Tomasso Critical Care
Downes Construction Company saved New Britain General Hospital over $2-million in value engineering recommendations during the design and construction of their five story critical care tower.
The project was successfully completed three months ahead of schedule, which allowed the hospital to meet community needs sooner than anticipated.
As construction manager, Downes Construction Company worked with the owner and design team to meet and surpass building program objectives. Downes Construction Company provided cost estimates and constructability reviews early during the planning and design phases of the project.
Work included the creation of state-of-the-art critical care facilities on an abandoned city street, relocation of all utilities, and the matching of existing floor levels with new levels through the use of connecting ramps and bridges. The facility façade is comprised of brick, aluminum wall panels and glass.
