Downes Kicks off "Careers in Construction" Presentations at Windham Technical High School

The Downes team kicked off our first “Careers in Construction” presentation in 2022 at Windham Technical High School. We met with the Seniors in Electrical, Carpentry, Sustainable Architecture, and HVAC to continue on our mission to raise awareness of the many opportunities in our industry. The students learned about the different career paths of the Downes team members John Fraioli, Vice President of Field Operations; Michael Concodello, Superintendent; Nicole DeMaio, Business Development and Marketing Director; Jared Fraioli, Carpenter; and John Flis, Superintendent, the opportunities in their respective trades or if they decide to pursue a 4-year college degree in construction management. As an added bonus, the electrical and HVAC students got first hand experiences from two local workers.

Henry, or Hank as the students call him, is a recent graduate of Windham Tech and currently in his first year apprenticeship working for  Ducci Electrical Contractors  on our $100m Windham HS project right down the street. Hank shared his first hand experiences working on the job site as well as how important it is to have the soft skills.

Rose joined us from Local 777. She currently works for  MJ Daly, LLC  as a pipe fitter on our Windham HS project. Rose expressed the importance of continually wanting to learn and hone her craft. Ladies, if you’re interested in a trade, don’t hesitate!

We look forward to continuing our mission throughout 2022 and beyond to raise awareness about the many opportunities in construction.
